Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek is traditional Everest base camp trekking and in 1953 TenzingNorgey Sherpa & Sir Edmund Hilary use Jiri Everest base camp trails for summit the Mt. Everest / Top of the world. It is most popular trekking route in Everest region which offers spectacular vistas of Mount. Everest 8848m, Mount Lhotse (8516m), Mount Makalu (8463m), Mount Cho Oyu (8201m) & other mountains. You will certainly enjoy the beautiful landscape, Tibetan monasteries & Sherpa culture. It provides great opportunity to explore the beautiful landscape of whole SoluKhumbu region.
You can take two routes to reach at Everest Base camp: one from Lukla and another from Jiri. This Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek program has been designed with suggestion of professional mountaineers and guides ensuring adequate time for proper acclimatization and for your health too. This campaign begins from Jiri. Well Nepal Trekking guide will led you through beautiful valley of Deurali, SetiJunbesi, Nunthala, Puiyan, Phakding, Namche, Pheriche, Lobuche, Gorakshep and finally reach the Mount Everest base camp. Next morning you will head to Kala pattar to see beautiful sunrise, Himalayan views of Everest region including the Top of the world. And return back to where you started your journey. You will make your way through alpine forests, glacial rivers, and ethnic people of that region with their warm hospitality, monasteries with prayer flags, and other ethnic villages with their simple and rich traditional mountain lifestyles. You will have great experience of all with breath-taking spectacular mountainous vistas. The main center of attraction of this is Mt. Everest base camp 5463m & Kala pattar 5545m. The best time to come at this trek is autumn and spring season.
Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek is a full adventurous trek for 21 days only to those who are physically fit, good health and are determined to challenge themselves with unpredictability of mountain life. This trek starts from moderate and reaches to its most difficult grade i.e. Strenuous. |Day 1:||Arrive in Kathmandu (1300 m)
You will be received outside the airport terminal a few meters from the exit door. Please check your name/group name on the play cards displayed. Our guide will bring you to your hotel in Kathmandu.
|Day 2:||Kathmandu Tour and Trek Preparation (1360m)
This is your Kathmandu sightseeing day and preparation day too. You will visit famous Pashupatinath Temple (Lord Shiva’s) Temple, Swayambunath temple, Bhaktapur Durbar square and other beautiful places of Kathmandu. If you need anything before heading out then you have to shop on this day.
|Day 3:||Drive Kathmandu to Bhandar.
After having breakfast you will be heading towards Bhandar by bus. It will take about 8 to 9 hrs. Bus will go up to Bhandar. Overnight at Bhandar.
|Day 4:||Bhandar to Sete(2575m/8450 ft): 6/7 hrs
This morning we follow the trail from Bhandar through deep forests crossing a few streams passing the small village of Dokharpa and Baranda. Passing through the forests ,SurmaKhola, LikhuKhola Valley, small settlement of Kenja, Chimbu and continuing further we finally reach Sete. Overnight at Sete.
|Day 5:||Sete trek to Junbesi(2670 m/8760 ft): 6/7 hrs
Marching from sete to Lamjura La (the highest point between Jiri and Namche Bazaar), Dagchu and Goyem). We head downward to Tragdobuk and Junbesi. This day offers you a paroramic view of the surrounding green mountains and exploring the villages and their lifestyle. Overnight at Junbesi.
|Day 6:||Junbesi trek to Nunthala (2220m/7280 ft): 6 hrs
After breakfast we gear up and head to Nunthala through the forest slope and after an hour's trek, the beautiful views of the mountains including Everest can be seen. This is the first view of Everest on this trek. Continue the trail to Salung to RingmoKholaRingmo, Trakshindo La pass and descend to Trashingdo. After another hour's descent through conifer and rhododendron forests, and terraced fields, you finally take your shoes off at Nuntala. Overnight at Nuntala.
|Day 7:||Nunthala to Bupsa (2360 m/7,740 ft): 5/6 hrs
After having Breakfast we move down the trail to the DudhKoshi River and move up upward to Khumbu and through Jubing, Churkha, Kharikhola Another steep climb finally takes us to Bupsa. Overnight at Bupsa.
|Day 8:||Bupsa to Surke (2290m/7282ft): 5/6 hrs
In this day we walk through Kharte, Khari La pass, Puiyan and go through the ups and downs to Surke.
|Day 9:||Surke to Phakding(2,652m/8,700ft): 4/5 hrs
From Surke, our trail climbs toward Chaurikharka. Initially, the trek moves up to Chhiplung. Then the trail moves down to Phakding. Overnight stay at Phakding.
|Day 10:||Phakding - Namche Bazaar (3440 m/11,280 ft): 5/6 hrs
At morning we walking through a beautiful pine forest along the DudhKoshi River, Villages of Benkar, Chumoa, Monjo, we enter Sagarmatha National Park. We march through the last village of Jorsale before reaching Namche Bazaar. Crossing DudhKoshi and BhoteKoshi rivers and climb of about two hours we get first sight of Mt. Everest peering over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. We stop at Chautara to admire the view and hike of about 1.5 hours we rest at Namche Bazaar (a gateway to Mt. Everest and main trading centre of this region). We stay overnight in Namche Bazaar.
|Day 11:||Acclimatization Day (3,440m/11,284ft):
This day is acclimatization day especially programmed taking care of your health. This day is a rest day and you can explore Sagarmatha National Park or Namchebazar and Khumjung Valley. It offers you internet, cafes, shops, restaurant, bakery and other where you can hang out and feel better for next day hike. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
|Day 12:||Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,870m)
After breakfast in Namche our journey continues, we start our trek towards Tengboche enjoying superb view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, AmaDablam and close up view of Thamserku. Enjoying wild lives like pheasant, musk deer, or a herd of Himalayan Thar, through alpine forests, DudhKoshi River, we reach PhunkiThenga where we’ll have lunch relaxed lunch then steep up through the pine forests while before we reach Tengboche. Tengboche is a great place for close up views of Ama-Dablam, Nuptse, and Everest and a biggest Buddhist Monastery in Khumbu region which we will visit too. After long trek you will enjoy Overnight stay at lodge at Tengboche
|Day 13:||Tengboche to Dingboche (4360m)
After breakfast we gear up for our day hike to Dingboche. We pass through several Chortens and Mani walls and small villages. The place where we stop for lunch not only serves delicious food but also allows a fantastic close-up view of Mt AmaDablam. From here onwards, the walk is fairly moderate as we enter the Imja Valley to Lobuche River. We descend into the river and begin the last and steepest climb of the day up to Dingboche. On arrival at Dingboche, we will see beautiful array of fields enclosed by stone walls to protect barley, buckwheat and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals. |Day 14:||Dingboche to Duglha (4600 M)
We start the day with a climb to through the KhumbuKhola valley to PhulungKarpo Above which is Chola Lake. As we move on, the majestic view of Mt. Pumori (7138 m/ 23418 ft) comes into view. After crossing a small wooden bridge, we ascend to Duglha. We can see the tip of Mt Nuptse, Mt Cholatse, Mt Thamserku and several other magnificent peaks. Spending a night in Duglha is ideal for acclimatization purposes. guesthouse in Duglha.
|Day 15:||Duglha to Lobuche (4940 M)
We climb up the steep moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. At the top of the ridge of ChupkiLhara, we will find an array of stones with prayer flags used as memorials to Scott Fischer (American mountaineer) and 10 times Everest submitter BabuChiri Sherpa (a Nepali mountain guide) who perished on a mission to climb Everest. As the trail drops to the Khumbu Glacier moraine, we find ourselves facing several great peaks. We are now in the surrounding of Everest but the great mountain still remains elusive. Enjoy Overnight at Lobuche.
|Day 16:||Lobuche to Gorakshep to Everest Base Camp (5400m) and return Gorakshep (5180m)
We continue our journey through Khumbu Glacier to ThangmaRiju from where 360 degree views of mountains can be observed. Climbing steeply up to the top through the torrent of Changri Glacier, we catch our first glimpse of Kala Patthar, a grey-green knoll beneath the Mt. Pumori and you will be at Gorakshep finding snow-capped mountains bright all around us including Mt. Everest we take the trail to Everest Base Camp through the once vast Gorakshep Lake. Finally you are at your destination. Mountaineer's tents stand out in bright colors against the monotony of gray surroundings. Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori are the mountains we can view from the base camp. Continuing straight ahead, we come through the Indian army mountaineers' memorials. We get back to Gorakshep for a good night's rest. Overnight service
|Day 17:||Back to Kala Pattar (5545m) - Pheriche (4210m). Overnight service B.L.D
This day we walk all the way back to Pheriche. On the way one must see the sunrise from Kala Patthar. The sunrays at cap of mountains are just tear-bursting. After a long hike of 7 hour we rest at Pheriche.
|Day 18:||Pheriche to Namchebazar (3900m)
We head downward for 6 hour to Namche Bazaar and stay overnight at a guest house.
|Day 19:||Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2800m)
After enjoying our breakfast we now head back from Namche Bazaar to lukla from where we started our real hike. The trail descends steeply downward so we need to walk slowly and under control as our shaky legs continuously battle the rocky terrain. Way down through Sherpa villages noticing impressive faith in Buddhism and culture of prayer stones and prayers flag, we feel completely different views. Upon arrival in Lukla, we stretch those aches and sore body parts and recall the experiences of the last couple of weeks. We experience the culmination of a fantastic trek on a happy note with everyone back safe and sound with smile on faces. Overnight in Lukla.
|Day 20:||Lukla to Kathmandu (1337m)
This day you fly back to Kathmandu and do some shopping for gifts, memory, collections and some traditional items and they all rests at a single venue, Thamel. There will be a small party upon the successful campaign.
The journey within the Everest region of Nepal comes to an end today! There is nothing to do than trade emails to travel companions and organize your photos. On our way to home we will have plenty of time to plan our next adventure trip in the wonderful country of Nepal.
